Premium Max Brakes OE Replacement Rotors with Carbon Ceramic Pads - KT083742 - Perfect for High-Performance Vehicles & Daily Commuting

This set of brake pads and rotors is for a 2010 Pontiac Vibe. I may not have needed new rotors, but as long as new pads were being installed, why not include new rotors especially given that the complete set was attractively priced $86. And I am figuring that this is the last brake job this car is getting. I have successfully installed dozens of new brake pads / rotors - I am a pretty good DIY on basic auto repairs. Trying to install these new Max pads, I found that they were too wide to fit between the slots on the caliper bracket. Side by side with the old ones, they look identical. But the Max ones are clearly too wide (long dimension) to fit. I didn't measure them, but we are talking a few 1000ths of an inch. With some effort, I pushed them on but it was clear that these pads would never move as they need to as the pads wear. I repeatedly removed about a 1000th of an inch from each end with a bench grinder. After 3 times, I got the pads to a dimension that would fit in the bracket and will move freely as the pads wear.One other issue with the pads themselves - the thin metal backing plate on the pads is held on only with bent metal tabs. These were poorly installed on the pads - two of them fell off when doing the installation. I had to bend the tabs slightly to get the plates to snap onto the pad securely.I have driven the Vibe for over a month and the brakes are performing great. There has not been any brake squeal or other noise from day 1. The new drilled rotors look high tech and I expect both rotors & pads to last for many miles. Had it not been for the pad size problem and loose backing plates, the rating would have been 4 or 5.My old brakes where so worn out on my wife’s car they fell off the caliper. The brakes had arrived just like promised. The kit came with new hardware, 2 rotors, 4 pads, all individually packaged and ready to install. Remove the top cap on your reservoir before pushing the plunger in on the caliper and install the new parts. Done. Simple. Use some brake parts cleaner on everything on the car and used an oil catch below so the drops can be disposed of properly. My experience is a great fit, minimal break in time, and no noise. Very happy with product and shipper helped with identifying my vehicle for this kit.Finally, had these long enough to give a solid, fair review. Bought these for my '08 Scion xB (toaster) 2nd Gen back in Feb of 2017 and they're solid. No issues what-so-ever. I'm an extremely spirited driver and love late/hard braking. I'm extremely impressed with this product and this company that they'll be getting all my business when it comes to brakes. Just wish they made front rotors for the newer Nissan Pathfinder body style. Oh, I bought and replaced the front rotors and pads at the same time.No issuesThese fit my Toyota Scion xB 2008 model perfectly.nice set of replacements and the price is great.
